Can you extend INTO the loading zone?

So rule G108 says A ROBOT whose BUMPERS are intersecting the opponent’s
LOADING ZONE or COMMUNITY may not extend beyond its FRAME PERIMETER. Extensions
which are both MOMENTARY and inconsequential are an exception to this rule.

If a robot is bordering just outside an opposing alliances loading zone, and extends into said loading zone WITHOUT its bumpers intersecting the loading zone, is that considered illegal?

That is correct.

“We cannot comment on specific designs [yada yada] decision will be up to the head ref at the event” - GDC, probably

Jokes aside, the condition in the phrasing of that rule is that the bumpers must be intersecting that zone. Your question states the condition that the bumper NOT break that plane. These are contradictory and the rule would not apply (therefore no penalty). That said, rule Fletch999 says “dont play with fire else you might get burned”

It’s legal.

(And spelled out in answer to Q23:
“If a ROBOT’S extension intersects the opponent’s LOADING ZONE or COMMUNITY while the ROBOT’S BUMPERS do not, G108 does not apply.”)

Watch out.

G207 Right of way. A ROBOT with any part of itself in their opponent’s LOADING ZONE or COMMUNITY
may not contact an opponent ROBOT, regardless of who initiates contact.

Also why?
Why would the other alliance’s human players feed your robot with game pieces LOL?
If you were to like stick an arm in there.

Who knows how many game pieces may get knocked on the ground in that area… i expect many teams/robots will either not be able to pick them up, or go for something that’s quicker and easier to pick up, like one from the double human player shelf.

If an opponent was trying to engage with elements in their community I would leave it alone. If they were blocking access to loading and obviously had overlap I would advise the drive team to squeeze around them even at risk of contact. My understanding of how to play might change but I expect defensive to be delay, not block.
