I didn’t use the Edubot last year, so can I just use a 3 wire connector to connect from the Edubot rwb to a Blue or Red Innovation First or other PWM contoller. (Obviously the power would come from a separate battery.)
Thanks.

Yes, the PWM outputs of the Edubot RC generates a standard hobbyist RC pulse. This can work with the Edubot Motors, Standard RC Servos, or Standard RC speed controllers (including the RC speed controller sold by Innovation First, the Victor 883 or 884 Red or Blue).

OK What is the fourth (orange) wire for?
PS. I tried getting a red victor to work without luck.
The fourth wire (orange, opposite the black wire) is just another +V pin. It performs the exact same function as the second wire from the black side (red).
As a rule of thumb, never just connect two things together, unless you seriously know what you’re doing, and how you’re doing it. In this case, if you connect these things in the wrong orientation and position, there’s a good chance you could damage the components permanently.
I highly recommend that you read the EduBot documentation from Innovation First’s website. Here’re some links:
