Cancoder lights

Is it a problem that the CANcoders become red sometimes only when we drive? It doesn’t seem to affect the robot.

A red LED on a CANcoder has a couple of different meanings depending on its brightness and blink frequency. The CANcoder user guide has the details. If the red blink is due to the magnet being out of range, that could be problematic in that it would indicate the CANcoder or the magnet can move relative to each other. Alternatively, if the red blink is due to a CAN bus issue, that could be problematic as, if sustained, the code would be unable to communicate with the CANcoder. We actually had this issue earlier this season. One of the CAN wires from a CANcoder had just a bit of its insulation missing and as the robot drove, the exposed wire would bounce against the robot frame. Each time it contacted the frame, the CAN bus would go down.
