Cannot Configure or Even See New Router (OM5P-AN)

We have been trying to configure our new router (which came in the KOP), but have been having some issues. More specifically, one issue no matter what we try. Regardless of whether we are trying to configure the router using the configuration tool, or trying to re image it using the respective tool, our computer cannot find the router. We have tried power cycling it, using different computers, using different cords (even a crossover cable) and nothing is seeing it at all. We have viewed it in Windows networking and it does not detect anything either. At this point we are considering the possibility that it might have either been DOA or we did something electrically to it when powering it. Note that all the lights are working as expected, just that none of the connections are working. Any one else have this issue? Anyone else have a solution or did you have to get a new one? Thanks!

A few things:

  • Make sure all network adapters other than the ethernet connection to the radio is disabled
  • Disable any anti-virus and firewall software
  • Make sure the ethernet port is set to DHCP (I think)
  • You need to be connected to the ethernet port furthest away from the radio power connector
  • If you are powering from the VRM, make sure you are in the 12V, 2A connection

Thanks for the response! Your list neatly sums up all the information we managed to find online, however none of it solved our problems. Thanks for the list though!

Hey,

Make sure you have all the firmware on your router, we ran into this issue and were able to resolve it using this guide: http://files.andymark.com/OM5P-AN_QuickAP_Setup.pdf

It seems some of the routers may have been shipped without proper firmware, so give this a try. The instructions in this guide are geared towards FRC Teams, and takes around 20 minutes to complete.

Hope this helps.

So we tried that also (though to anyone else looking for help, try that it could work for you!), and got stuck where it tries to connect to the router. We have tried everything online and anything we could think of to see if any computer could see the router and nothing could. We had several mentors who are great at this sort of thing try also and nothing. In the end we have determined that our router must be dead. Whether it was DOA or we did something to it is still unknown, but I figure there must be a few DOA units if they are making so many of them. Thanks for everyone’s help though as I’m sure this can help other people having this problem, only with a live router. Thanks!
