Cannot control RoboRIO over USB or Ethernet

I can’t type it here for some reason

  • Make sure the RoboRIO was imaged for your team number
  • In your computer’s settings, make sure the IP assignment is set to automatic (DCHP)
  • Allow NI mDNS Responder through Firewall, if it isn’t allowed already

RIO is imaged for our team number, and we did try setting the DS team # to 0 which I think is the default team #

IP assignment is automatic

Firewall is off

Just making sure, when you say connected with USB you mean the USB-B port on the RoboRIO, right? That what it needs to be to connect to the computer.

Also -
When connected with USB, can you ping 172.22.11.2 ?
And can you ping RoboRIO-4829-FRC.local ?

Yep

No

And can you ping RoboRIO-4829-FRC.local ?

Also no

I can only think of a few things here:

-Does the laptop you’re currently using have the NI FRC Game Tools installed? Based on your mention of the Driver Station, it sounds like yes (the DS is part of the Game Tools), but it’s worth mentioning just in case; the Game Tools is what installs the USB network driver for the roboRIO.

-I see this:

What we’ve tried:
Turning off WiFi on the PC
Disabling all other internet adapters

Which depending on the exact order that interacted with this:

The 1st setup:
RIO connected over Ethernet (directly to PC - we didn’t have a radio)

Did you try direct Ethernet before USB? If so, did you disable all other network adapters before plugging in the USB? The USB connection itself is recognized as a network adapter in Windows, so if you disabled that, USB won’t work either.

We figured it out
Somehow the USB port on the RIO got broken and no longer works
