Can't connect your imaging tool to the cRIO?

I spent a few hours today struggling with our Classmate and trying to get it to connect to the cRIO. Everything was wired up correctly, direct connection via an ethernet cable from the Classmate right to the board, and the Classmate made the right switch to use the cable as a crossover. But it just wouldn’t detect the cRIO under any circumstances!

After calling Chuck Harris from Oakton HS, he gave me a great pointer - disable the wireless on your laptop/classmate/whatever, before booting the imaging tool. Sometimes the tool wants to use the wireless connection instead of the wired, and nothing you can do will convince it otherwise. We disabled that, then disabled and re-enabled the wired connection under ‘network connections’ in the control panel, and everything worked like a charm.

Maybe this is common knowledge, but if not, there you go.
