I can’t edit posts at all. The “edit” button isn’t there. I’ve tried multiple computers, multiple posts.
For example, I just posted something 10 minutes ago, and there is no such “edit” button anywhere. Am I doing something wrong?
I believe that’s a restriction on new users that will go away after you’ve been here and posted enough. It’s designed to prevent spam - spam bots love making posts with a ton of links in them, which made it easy for the forum to look for relatively new users that posted a ton of links and block them. So the bots started making simple posts and coming back to edit them later. So the forum turned around and disabled editing until you’ve been here and posted enough to prove you aren’t a bot. It’s all automated, of course

I was annoyed by this as well when I first made my account. I wish it was not so, but as Jon said above it’s a hands off way of preventing malicious activity on the forum.

It would be nice if we could authorize newer accounts in some way. But I guess waiting x amount of time is not so bad.
If you need something edited and it’s somewhat important (e.g. removing sensitive information), feel free to report your own post with the change you’re requesting and a moderator will eventually get to it.
