Hey Teams!

Capital City Classic 2021 will be held October 23-24 (Load-In on the 22nd). Teams 1678, 2073, and 3859 are excited to announce that the 2021 Capital City Classic will be back at Cosumnes Oaks High School , home of Team 3859, Wolfpack Robotics, in Elk Grove, CA.

We will be playing the 2021 version of Infinite Recharge, currently planning on no other rules updates, but any rules changes will be communicated well in advance of the event.

Again this year, Citrus Circuits is organizing our annual Fall Workshop Series at the event. Past Fall Workshop archives can be found here: Fall Workshops - Citrus Circuits

Keep an eye out for registration information and website updates in the coming weeks. Please feel free to post any questions here or email us at

After a tough year, we cannot wait to see everyone back in person at CCC 2021!

As an extremely recent Sacramento transplant, I’m super excited to see this event is happening again this year! It’s been on my list for a while, and I think I’ll finally be able to check it out :slight_smile:

Dear FRC Teams:

The Capital City Classic is being planned October 22-24, 2021 at Cosumnes Oaks High School in Elk Grove, California. Please go to for details about the tournament. Our Safety Plan should be posted to the web site within a day or so.

Due to the uncertainty of how COVID-19 will affect the event (including the number of spaces available), the registration process for Capital City Classic 2021 is different from previous years. This year you can attend workshops online via live stream, there is no fee.

  1. If you are interested in attending, please fill out this application by 11:59 PM (PDT) September 22, 2021. Applications received by that time will be used to create a priority list as follows:

a) First priority: Rookie teams;

b) Second priority: Returning teams that did not get to compete in a Regional in 2020;

c) Third priority: All other applications received by the deadline above; and

d) Fourth priority: Applications received after the deadline above.

e) Within each priority, available spaces will be offered in the order applications were received.

  1. We anticipate that we will start offering spaces September 23 per the above criteria. Once your team is accepted, an invoice for the $300 registration fee will be sent to your registration email.

a) It must be paid (via check or PayPal) within 7 days or your space will be offered to another team.

b) If applying for a scholarship you will be notified of award status within 5 days.

c) If you cannot attend, please let us know as soon as possible so we can allow the next team taking that space to plan ahead.

  1. Once the invoice has been paid you will receive an official welcome email with further details.

  1. Teams may withdraw and receive a full refund (including PayPal fees) at any time up to the day before the event. However, we respectfully request that if you cannot attend, please let us know as soon as possible so we can allow the next team taking that space to plan ahead.

  2. If the tournament is canceled, all teams will receive a full refund (including PayPal fees).

  3. Teams not checking in by 8:00am on the Saturday of the event will be dropped from the event and will not receive a refund.

  4. If your team must withdraw from the tournament, please email us as soon as possible at

If you have any questions or need additional information, please email us at We hope to see you here!

As in past years, will CCC be allowing one robot per team only?

I don’t see a COVID-19 safety plan on the site, can you provide details?

Hello Teams,

Unfortunately, due to some unforeseen venue challenges with both our primary and back-up locations, the in-person Capital City Classic must be cancelled this year. Please stay tuned for virtual options we are working on, to be shared in the coming days.

We have every intention of bringing back the in-person Capital City Classic in 2022. Thanks everyone for your interest and enthusiasm for the event.

If you are still looking for an in-person competition, please consider registering for the 2021 Madtown Throwdown.

The following email was sent to all interested teams:

Re: Capital City Classic canceled in 2021 - see you in 2022

Dear Teams:

Last week we emailed saying COVID guidelines and related policies prevented us from being able to implement an in-person event, so the Capital City Classic (CCC) would pivot to a remote format. Unfortunately, we found we don’t have enough time to adequately prepare a quality event. Consequently, we will not be able to host CCC virtually after all. We do have an extensive library of past Fall Workshops available at Fall Workshops - Citrus Circuits.

We’re truly sorry this year didn’t work out for CCC, and look forward to seeing you next year.
