Cargo pressure inconsistency?

Teams who competed at Week 1, how inconsistent was the ball pressure? We are finding that a significant difference in pressure has a major impact on the distance of our shots, making it hard to calibrate our shooter. Just wondering if we should try to address this problem before competition, or if this isn’t going to be a concern.

During testing, we found that balls that are deflated shoot at a slightly different arc. When we competed, we did not notice cargo pressure changes causing any real problem.

We really struggled with this one this weekend. On Saturday morning it was pretty cold in the venue and so we needed to add some compression to move the cargo through the robot. After the venue filled up and the weather outside got warmer, we started see cargo getting jammed in the robot.

For the elims we removed the extra foam and didn’t have many issues for most of our matches. Our last match it seemed like the balls were a little small which limited us to 1 ball cycles (pick up two but only able to push one through the robot using the other).

We had some pretty major intake issues that we narrowed down to being flat cargo. Once they got low they just spun on the bumpers rather than riding over them. Field staff was good about adding some air as low cargo were pointed out.

Current official word is checking Cargo at beginning of day and at Lunch break, which is consistant with past years with inflated items. In the past the worst was floors over ice rinks. Nowadays we’re in school gyms so it’s people warming up the room over the day.
The small sample my home team has (11 Cargo), at the beginning of evening session is most are over/under 1 lb, and 2 down to not registering a pressure.

It is a concern, although I’m not sure what to do about it. In our matches we saw some balls go to far, and some not go far enough. We initially thought it might be a problem with our shooter, but eventually realized that it was just the pressure of the balls. I was thinking that compliance wheels might be the way to go for this. We have been using high grips and a firm wheel might cause a larger difference in compression than a flexible wheel.
