As always the deadline is Sunday at midnight Eastern. I’ll definitely be at IRI on Saturday, still nailing down Friday. Either way, if you see me feel free to submit an entry in person.

Go!

148 motto: When you lose, you say nothing. When you win, you say even less. When you do something awesome, you’re allowed one dance move.

Wait… this isn’t a recycle rush pool noodle

Careful there, human player. In this game, the robots can’t do much wrong, so the refs have lots of opportunity to watch for your hand going over the wall.

“Mark hits the mark”

“Mark hits the mark again, amazing”

By day he is a regular FIRST robotics kid. But at night he is a free throwing super star.

“This moon rock is going to -infinity and beyond!”

No matter how hard carpedav000 screamed, there was no way the ref was going to reverse the -infinity score.

Mark throws super cell.
It’s super effective!

Little known fact: 148 used IRI to train future human players by playing “HORSE” with their supercells and alternating matches. Mark called hook shot this match. Joe got an “R” in the next.

This picture immortalizes a terrible tragedy. They left him hanging… Legend has it he is still there, waiting, waiting for the gentle slap of another palm against his.

Also, could I just take a moment here to say that one of my favorite things about FRC competitions is looking up into the stands and seeing all colours of the rainbow. Fills me with excitement every time. Is it competition season yet?!

Mark: “I threw a moon rock into the air, where it lands I know not where.”

Pikabot, I choose you!

The rest of the teams were playing Lunacy, 148 was dancing.

Mark Mahrer, the patron saint of human players, orbit balls, and the dab.

“Maybe if I reach just far enough, I could reach one of those red-shirted people to help us”

He’s trying to win the “I Threw One of These Ridiculously Shaped Objects Farther Than Anyone Else Award”.

As he made the shot, a faint voice could be heard giving the shout,
“KOBE!”.

While static electricity from the field was able to lift the Orbit Balls a few feet off the ground, Mark tried to throw some of FRC’s worst game pieces into actual orbit.

148 was so good, they developed a robotic arm for Mark to wear that would precisely launch the ball into a trailer.
