You know you’ve made the volunteer coordinator mad when you’re put on the job of Trash Monitor and issued a second clipboard “in case you break the first one”.
Welcome to the 2019 First Robotics Competition, “CLIPBOARD CHAOS”!
In this game, alliances of three teams each use their robotic drones in an attempt to deliver clipboards to field staff. Each match starts with a 15 second autonomous period, where the drones operate using only pre-programmed instructions. Each drone can be pre-loaded with one clipboard. During this period, a clipboard delivered to and caught by a field staff member is worth 10 points. Dropping a clipboard so that it is completely supported by the trash can is worth 20 points. Placing the clipboard into the trash can is worth 40 points.
The autonomous period is followed by a 2 minute teleoperated period, where droves are under driver control. During this period, drones attempt to collect more clipboards from a stack on the opposite side of the field and deliver them. A clipboard delivered to and caught by a field staff member is worth 5 points. Dropping a clipboard so that it is completely supported by the trash can is worth 10 points. Placing the clipboard into the trash can is worth 20 points.
In the last thirty seconds, drones may attempt to write their team number onto a piece of paper, attach it to a clipboard, and deliver it to a field staff member. Each team which successfully does so earns a 50 point bonus.
Teams should remember to build their robotic drones robustly, as clipboards may accidentally fall on them.
Good luck, teams, and we’ll see you at the competition!
Perhaps so, but it absolutely beats the alternative. Oh, and welcome to the club… [/NPOE]
Oooh! Shiny!
[NPOE]Now go see what I wrote in 2013 in the comments on that image. And, please note that Wayne has explicitly declared that he will never win the caption contest. [/NPOE]
