The rules, for the newbies.

And since it’s the year-end contest, we traditionally go for a video:

As always, the deadline is nominally Sunday at midnight Eastern.

Go!

“One foot down, 1.261 billion to go.”

Welcome to the real world: Marketing sells a perfect robot, Engineering duct tapes something together and prays that it works. Inherent safety, as usual, is considered around the time of the first recall.

The Ri3D team woke up in a cold sweat to review the tape 12 hours later to verify they captured on camera and uploaded the right footage to show the robot did what they thought it did after being awake for 71 hours straight, and not that they were just vividly dreaming the whole thing after accidentally falling asleep while CADing during hour 62.

We are testing the lift. Please put on these helmets and step on the ramps.
Why do we need helmets?
No reason, why do you ask?

Imagine what they could do if only they had 6 weeks to build a robot, not 3 days.

Still waiting to see “Directed by Stanley Kubrick”

“Each lifter should place his/her feet close to the robot and adopt a balanced position.” — 2018 FIRST Robotics Competition Safety Manual, p. 13, section 5.3 “During the Lift”

It doesn’t say anything about not trying it at our robotics space!

Never do this at home: a full face shield on a motorcycle helmet is no substitute for ANSI Z87.1 safety glasses.

The two poor souls here were both late to our last meeting.

Do not attempt: No field element should be constructed from OSB, either entirely or in part. Or, for that matter, really anything whose structural integrity is important.

Or really anything in general…

Also Sprach Zarathustra is simply the wrong music: Shoulda been THIS*. Boom shackalakalaka Boom shackalakalaka

Go Gamecockamamies…

*A video question deserves a video response. I promise it’s not a Rickroll.

“Alright guys, this is the last year we fool around. I don’t want next year to become ‘2019: A Space Idiocy’”

And here we are at last!

First place goes to:

Second place goes to:
