A few years later, those shirts were banned from all events. Reason? Any time someone saw them, they’d do the “ROBOT!!!”

The person on the right misunderstood the meaning of the word “robot” on the shirts. He thought the shirts meant “Act like Terminator.” He ran through the pits, swinging his arms wildly, hurting himself and damaging other robots. This incident was a direct cause for the perennial no running in the pits rule that was eventually revoked at Palmetto in 2018.

If you ever see someone staying in a small, marked off region of the pits while running in place and swinging their arms wildly, tell them that Arnold Schwarzenegger has filed a lawsuit.

When their robot showed up to NYC on time the year after disaster, they only felt like dancing.
