The rules, for the newbies.
And the picture:
[b04b704ed3a75b3c72c82f47604ff3ec_l.jpg] MA Gov. Deval Patrick stopped by Rosie’s pit and spoke to our students while at the Boston Regional. Pictured here is Rosie’s CEO Meghan Henry and COO Autumn Paro.
While it took many letters from many teams to bring FIRST to his attention, it took one phone call from Agawam State Rep Sandlin to finalize the deal and get him to come. Thanks to all who wrote. I think he understands now that we need to expand FIRST and STEM education in the state.
As always, the deadline is nominally Sunday at midnight Eastern .
Go!

“Oh, you must be new here. Don’t worry, I think we have a shirt in your size somewhere around here!”
“So our robot can climb, shoot, and make sandwiches”
“Make sandwiches?”
“For Billfred”
Gov.: “So, you and your team build robots?”
Team: “Yes, we do.”
Gov.: “Like BattleBots?”
Face palm
How can you identify politicians at a FIRST event? They are overdressed.
How can you identify the politician’s security team at a FIRST event? They are severely overdressed.

The Governor didn’t blink an eye when Rosie’s CEO called him Patrick Deval.
“I’d like to thank you for your vote.”
“Um, we’re not old enough to vote.”
"What? You mean you’re not college students? And I though I was smart…
Can I have your autographs? "
Gov: You all are showing me that many jobs in the future won’t exist because smart young people like you can automate them.
Gov. (internally): Good thing they’ll never automate politicians and political campaigns.
13 years later:
More than 50,000 Russia-linked bots were active on Twitter during the 2016 election. Are they back? We talked with Prof. Tauhid Zaman, who has carried out a series of studies identifying bot networks and assessing their impact.
You want me to pardon your robot?
“So, Mr. Governor, would you be interested in supporting the watergame movement?”
[npoe] darn I missed last week’s [/npoe]
Governor: When I’m not kissing babies, I’m stealing their lollipops.
Girl on right: Finally an honest politician. Well I’m so glad you’re here.
Not an entry: I saw this and read it as Watergate . Kinda scary politics for those of a certain age.

Onward!
Little did I know, students used to shout “Pardon me!” instead of “ROBOT!”
