And as usual for end-of-the-year contests, it’s a video!

As always, the deadline is nominally Sunday at midnight Eastern.

Go!

ATTENTION FRESHMEN!

If you cannot at least equal the robot’s performance, you will be stuck on shop cleanup until you are Juniors.

That is all.

Another indicator that robots will never rule the world if this is how we train them for AI.

And this is why human players are no longer allowed to score. Not to stop them from breaking the game, but to save them from embarrassment.

The Robot was not impressed

“I was just testing the ability of the power cell collection team”

Demonstrating why she wanted the robot to be built with the capability to rebound missed shots. She admitted, with a capability better than hers.

To be fair. She couldn’t see the retroreflective tape. It helps a lot in aiming.

One of the basic design principals is to emulate in your robot mechanism what a human would do.

Or maybe not.

How to get forbidden from touching game pieces ever again in 5 quick seconds.

This year’s “Freshman Robot” was able to fool the LRI into believing that a freshman was just a very well engineered robot.

Another example of why fast food chains are looking to utilize robotic burger flippers and not humans.

Let’s put this one in the books, shall we?

A big thanks to you Billfred for putting this together. Great job!

It is very amusing reading all the comments.

I wholeheartedly agree, it’s always a pleasure seeing the various entries and having a good laugh at whatever reference or burn I’m always certain will win even though they never do.
cough @EricH cough

I’m wondering if we don’t put together a picture book with each photo and 1st / 2nd / Burn as captions. See how Billfred’s sense of humor has evolved.

OK, so 17 years have passed. There are students on teams today that were not even born to see Caption Contest #2. As if they could read at that age…

Yep, getting old. But the alternative is far less satisfying.

I mean, does anyone even remember Jane Young? (I certainly do!)
