The rest of the team sees the programmer with a laptop near the robot, and assumes the robot will soon be programmed, so they leave the programmer alone.

That’s incorrect. The programmer is playing Minecraft because they can’t go 5 seconds without the team asking “is it programmed yet?” if they don’t go near the robot, and they need a break.
