Everyone get rid of your cell phones!! $30 a month is crazy. If everyone stops getting one just because everyone else has one, then the companies will be forced to lower rates to gain back business.
They are lowering rates. The average cost of a 400 minute anytime, 3500 min N&W for just the state of Indiana coverage waas 35 bucks a month like 2 years ago on Verizon. Now you can get 400 anytime minutes, unlimited night and weekends, free unlimited calling to other verizon customers plus nationwide coverage for only 4 bucks more…compared to 50 or 60 bucks 2 years ago…
I have a national plan with 350 anytime minutes, unlimited nights (starting at 9 pm) and weekends and free unlimited mobile-to-mobile minutes (talking to any other Alltel customer) for $35/month. I also pay $4/month for insurance on my phone (I tend to drop and break things a lot) … when I got the phone, the premium was $35 but Alltel recently raised it to $50  Ah well, I’ll be able to use this phone up in “da nort woods” without getting any weird roaming charges. shrug
I currently have Tracfone… due to the fact, we don’t have cell phones where I come from. In all seriousness, they are wonderful, a phone is for emergencies, nothing else - and it did just so when I was stranded on top of Red Rock Mountain last week for 3 hours.
Woo Sprint…$50 a month for 500 national minutes, unlimited nights and weekends starting at 8PM and i get a 25% discount cause I am cool, so its about $40 a month.
My cell phone plan (Verizon America’s Choice) that I got exactly 2 years ago was 450 minutes, 4000 N&W (short term promotion, it was normally 3000 then), no M2M, and $0.40 for extra minutes for $45. The plan I’m getting now is still Verizon America’s Choice, but 400 minutes, unlimited N&W, unlimited M2M, and $0.45 for extra minutes for $40.
So really, the price per normal minute has stayed the same, while the N&W and M2M have both gone unlimited, and the price for extra time has increased.
i have nextel i switched from t-mobile at christmas cause they were running a special 1000 minutes free nights and weekends and unlimited direct connect for $50 a month this plan is usually $80 and i wanted nextel so i jumped on it. T-mobile was excellent i had no complaints and as of now no complaints with nextel except they need to release the i860…
verizon family plan - 2 phones sharing - 700 anytime minutes, free nights and weeks, no roaming charges, free verizion to verizon , and 100 txt messages per month for $50 i think…
Well, the cell phone that I use, (bring to competitions, etc), but is not mine is a verizon wireless, it really got me out of a sticky situation in Philadelphia during the Regional…I somehow locked myself in a room in our hotel where the only unlocked exit would sound an emergency alarm :ahh: however, I had the cell phone and got the number to the front desk…and they saved me. However, recently, my parents have been talking about getting me one of those virgin mobile phones where you just buy minutes as you need to…there is like a minimum you pay 20 dollars every six weeks or something. Well, I’m done with my rambling, so my official answer is Verizon…
