I already have plans to go with my father and some of his friends.
To everyone in the Central Florida area that hasn’t gone: This is one of the most fun (and most redneck event) you can ever go to.
If they do it like previous years, there are the following (and then some surprises):
Figure 8 School-bus races
Boat-towing oval race demolition derby (while racing in an oval, racers destroy the boats in tow like a derby, but still is a race to the finish)
Trailer-home towing oval race demolition derby
Demolition derby
Stock car racing
Etc.
Every year they tend to include some really cool “surprises”. A few years ago they had a truck with a 100+ ft flame thrower shooting out the back of it. Another year they had 2 School buses standing vertically with explosives in them… and another School bus ram into them at the bottom with them crashing down on top and exploding.
Very, very interesting once-in-a-lifetime experience. It’s a blast for everybody. Definitly come check it out.
It’s very easy to get to. It’s on SR-50 just west of where 520 and 50 intersect, not more than a mile. Coming from the West, I’d say it’s about 10 miles East of where Alafaya and SR-50 intersect.
It has a giant sign that says SPEEDWORLD…there may or may not be a school bus with a big racing wing on the back in front. Im sure there will be cars going there too.
We will be meeting for Dinner at the “Five and Dinner” starting at 5:30pm on Hwy 50 East. It is located about 1 mi east of the intersection of Hwy 50 and Alafaya.
FYI, I had to make a change in plans. I didn’t think about it when I saw the date originally, but tommorow’s my mom’s birthday. So, I’ll be missing this year unfortunatly. Have fun everyone!
