I’ll be moderating a Chairman’s Award Panel for the Fall Workshops in San Diego with several members of FRC 1538 Holy Cows.
What kind of questions would you like to have answered by the panel? Looking for questions along the lines of what it takes to be a Championship Chairman’s award winning team.
I think it depends on your audience. Are you expecting to have a lot of teams that have never submitted for Chairman’s, or teams that regularly submit?
If the former, it would be nice to have questions regarding the process, prepared materials to expect, how to design a presentation, etc.
If the later, it would probably be more useful to have questions regarding what teams should be doing (events, outreach, etc) in order to improve on the content the judges want to actually see in their presentation.
I would ask about their documentation process. Make sure they bring their binder and let teams look through it.
I would also ask about how they worked with previous chairman’s winning teams to improve their submissions? What advice do they think helped them the most.
In their opinion what made their submission stand out this year from the other CCA contenders?
What do they see as the things all teams should be doing but aren’t to better prepare for the Chairman’s process?
