Hey!
We are a rookie chairman’s team and in the description for the interview/presentation I keep seeing that showing the video is optional. Should we showours during this time?
We have plenty we could talk about during those three minutes instead of showing it. But we aren’t sure if it’s something that we should do or if its purely an option that makes no difference.
Thanks!
A picture is worth a thousand words, so how much is your 3 minute video worth? You can say whatever you want, but video brings it to life for the judges.
Yes, show the video!
It’s entirely up to you. We never show the video but we always have photos and things on display for the judges while the students are talking.
It’s completely optional but i think it really makes your team pop, I would definitely start developing ideas for the future, do your presentation how you want to now and make a list on where and how you can improve upon it for next year and years to come. ::safety::
In essence, it’s up to you. We never show the video in the room to the judges, but that’s simply because we want that extra time to get face time with the judges. Plus, if they watch the video after you present (which there isn’t any requirement that they do), then that’s even more time they are getting with their material (7 minute presentation AND 3 minute video, rather than 4 minute presentation and 3 minute video both shown in the room).
Our other reasoning is that we just don’t want to deal with electronics in the room, because there are so many opportunities for the technology to fail.
But, that’s just us. It is really up to you what you and your team decide is best for YOU. Take advice from all these folks who are giving you advice, but ultimately it’s up to you, as is just about every aspect of the submission. We have found that we are most successful when we stay true to ourselves rather than strictly listening what works for other people.
