Championship VIP pass

What extra perks does one get with a VIP pass?

Things like field access to any of the fields, free food, etc.

You basically need to be close personal friends with Dean Kamen at this point to get one… they used to be a lot easier to acquire.

“Access to Public Event Areas, Field Access, Sponsor Lounge, VIP Field Seating”

Completely unrelated, but how on earth did this get past enough people to be printed…?

While we’re at it, what’s this “Sposor Lounge” the VIPs and Sponsors get access to?

Puplic (adjective): A state of being exceptionally public, where one’s presence is so pronounced and conspicuous that it transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary. It’s like being publicly epic or fabulously conspicuous, turning heads and capturing attention wherever you go. Embrace your inner puplic persona and shine brightly in the spotlight of the public eye!

Who wouldn’t want to be licked by puppies? Nice perk.

Any word if there this provides access to VIP bathrooms that are actually stocked? If so, this could be solid investment opportunity!

As a PDP, I didn’t realize there was a secret unlock code to get field access.

Guest by themselves = no field access
PDP by themselves = no field access

Guest + PDP = field access. Something new to try next year. I just need to find a Guest.

I was allowed in the “PDP Lounge”, where I was rewarded with a bag of pretzels and a soda for my three years of being a volunteer PDP.

It’s been a while since I’ve been to Championship without a team, but I was able to attend as a volunteer back in St. Louis and the volunteer break room was an amazing thing back then if you liked free food and random swag.

What’s the difference between VIP and Elite?

Looks like escorting others and whatever the difference is between Staff access and VIP access which I assume is access to back areas of the convention center.

I was told (as someone enforcing field access at last year’s CMP) that PDPs were allowed to come down to the fields and check on their volunteers/say hi, but not stick around and watch matches. As in, just passing through was fine, being an audience member was not. The same rules really applied when you were with a guest, too, but it was acceptable to stay for a match or two as long as you weren’t on the scoring table side.

Most PDPs respected this and I think it worked well, at least from an enforcement perspective, so I’d probably expect similar rules for PDPs in the future…but what do I know?

WFA’s used to have VIP access, plus 1 guest. Not since 2022.

They deserve it and should still be VIPs

And I need to find a power distribution panel, although I already have field access anyways.

Way back in the day the colored bar used to be a holder for the tag itself. So, if you had a black badge one year, and saved it… and swapped it a later year… and security wasn’t looking too closely to see your badge border was slightly different than the others… well.

That is no longer the case sadly.

This is sad because that seems like a no brainer. I do remember the heyday of VIP like 2013-2017. Seemed like EVERYONE had a pass and the lounge during lunch was crazy. I have to imagine it got to be a huge expense for FIRST. But WFA’s getting cut out seems like an overreaction.

At Detroit one year, myself and a few alumni were trying to find the alumni meetup. Security redirected us into the VIP lounge. We were super confused.

How exactly does one obtain “elite access”?
