In a year full of off predictions and bold takes, how are people feeling for champs?

200 pts- if it happens it would probably be in quals, defense will be brutal for elims.
Triple climb-absolutely. (3xtraversal only possible if someone has copied 2481’s climb or 2481 makes it to worlds)
Teams I expect to be on Einstein- 254, 1690, 1323, 1678, 3310, 148, and a couple others (I will add more district teams after DCMP weekends)
Will #1 alliance sweep? - Not across the entire event, at least one upset will happen.

Half of the winners of any elims round will be wearing blue bumpers.
you cant just copy 2481’s climb, they built the whole robot around it, but I still think we will see some triple traversal climbs, but most strategies will go around 2 traversals and 1 robot keep scoring on an open field.
my bet is that 4 1st seeded alliances will make it to einstein and 2 2nd seeded alliances, this game is realy about the top tier robots, not a very strategic game.
I think we will see 200 points only with fouls, I will be surprised to see a match of 200 without fouls, the only possibility for this is 3 top tier teams in the same qualification match.
Every 1st seeded alliance captain will have a 4RP average.
Triple offense with teams playing opportunistic defense will rule the event and lead to multiple upsets
Einstein alliances will average >34 points in Auto, and End Game
This will be the most competitive championship in FRC history
I’m aware that the robot was largely designed around their climb. It doesn’t mean that another team couldn’t look into trying it and discovering that they could do it too and then making the necessary changes before Worlds. Highly unlikely, but definitely possible.
No team will when all of their qualification matches
I think that triple climb might be over rated. Only 5 extra points over High Rung. One extra Cargo per Alliance partner beats that.
If it increases the time for the climb for the 3rd Robot, better off taking the extra shots, maybe while climbing? Or after completing the climb. The crowd would love to see that…
I hope this is true but i think there is too less cargo available for 3 offensive robots.
Watch this match. Highest scoring playoff match in the world so far… I count ~14 Cargo that the third robot could’ve scored without disrupting the cycling of 254 and 1678.
If that third robot is an effective offensive machine (as will be the case at Champs), they’ll have plenty of opportunities to score Cargo and play defense.
I’m curious to see how the level of competition increases due to having only one champs and the elimination of 2nd pick and RA qualifiers from regionals. Is there any data on past champs average ELO that we will be able to compare to this year?
I am pretty confident we’ll see a 200 point match. The stars will align during quals at least once. I could see an alliance forego playing defense against a very tough matchup to focus on improving their stats and guaranteeing the 2 bonus RP. I don’t see 200 points happening in elims.
I’m kinda waiting to see an alliance demonstrate a well coordinated ‘motion offense’ that inherently includes counter D. I’m not knowledgeable on basketball motion but I suspect there is something that could be gleaned there.
This is one issue we have with our game….lack of time to practice with others to develop true alliance coordination.
Every single one? Damn okay. It’ll be interesting to see if we’ve gone from underestimating this game to overestimating it. Does this calculus still hold if they raise the ball RP threshold?

The thread asked for bold predictions! They won’t be changing the RP threshold so that’s a moot point… but yeah if they increased it, it would obviously be more difficult to average 4RP.
There will be a red card issued in an Einstein match.
(Though I hope I’m wrong. It just seemed like a “bold prediction” to make.)
There will be one 8th seed alliance that will make it to Einstein
