I’ve seen that there’s quite a few events around the country being cancelled or postponed. Though Michigan doesn’t have any confirmed cases we’ll most likely have some soon based on rumors. Anyone know the possibility of events, specifically near Detroit, being cancelled or postponed?
My understanding is that FIRST in Michigan, like many other areas, are following any advice/directives given by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and the CDC.
At this point MDHHS and the CDC have not directed that the events should be shut down, so they will continue until further direction is given.
I don’t think there is anyone that knows for certain if the season as a whole will continue, much less a specific district/region.
We are in a time of great uncertainty. Plan for the worst, hope for the best.
However, with Michigan specifically, I would say they are looking better then most other areas of the country. Best of luck.
Thanks for posting that link here.
One interesting detail: Changes to Safety Glasses Table procedures –
Discontinuing loaning out of safety glasses
- Safety glasses are still required in the pit and competition field areas of the event.
- All teams must bring enough safety glasses for all team members and mentors.
- We will have a small amount of safety glasses available for team purchase at an inflated price (maximum of $10) to incentivize bringing your own.
- We will have one-time use safety glasses available for VIPs and non-team members.
