Does anyone know for sure if teams stay on the same field for Qualifying rounds or will we rotate as in past. I have heard different info.
I am pretty certain that you will stay on your divisional field this year for the qualifying rounds.
Like last year, there will be 5 fields. 4 fields will be named according to the division names, like Archimedes, Curie, Newton, and Galileo. They will be at each of the corners. Then there is the Einstein field in the center of the 4 fields.
Since we aren’t doing this at Disney anymore, each field get equal exposure to the audience/spectators, so there is no need to switch teams to Einstein through out the day.
Well, that’s my guess anyway. I know a lot of teams complained about switching to different fields last year.
The only reason I see for switching is to allow each team to play more matches. If every team gets one round on Einstein, that’s one more match per team. That’s the way it was run in 2001, at least.
Any clue on how the webcast will work? Only the Einstein? Will matches be staggered so only one plays at a time and therefore all will be webcast? The best match at the time being broadcast? Some other odd FIRST way of choosing?
I’ve heard that Einstein will NOT be used during the day Friday and Saturday, and ONLY the final 4 will be played there.
It seems sort of silly…
Thanks for the input. I believe they will webcast all 4 fields as they did lastyear. It’s fun watching 4 games at once if you have 4 computers.
I think changing fields was fun. We could have differnt MCs and get to see differnt fields. But I doubt it will happen this year. But it does seem silly that Einstein will be empty for 2 days…
