Changing the plane of a navX1.0

I was wondering if there was a way to change the orientation of a navX1.0 to be on a vertical plane instead of its default horizontal plane. Is there a way to do this and how? Thank you in advance for your replies.

Edit/Update
We don’t know how, but we were able to fix the orientation of the navx through a few code edits and refreshes. Thank you for all of the resources, though, they were able to aid us in our understanding of the navx.

I believe that every time the navX receives power, it spends the first 5-10 seconds orienting itself in whatever position that it is in. There should also be a small button located on the navX itself, that when held down while power is applied, should run the calibration test again. I looked into this issue recently for our team, and this was a pretty helpful guide.

If you want a visual for how the movement of the navx is being registered, they have external software that you can install on a laptop, then plug into the navX with a usb cable.

Hope that helps somewhat!
