This technology looks really cool. It’s like creating a panoramic picture, but on steroids that are on steroids. It’s way awesome.
From the site:
"Our software takes a large collection of photos of a place or an object, analyzes them for similarities, and displays them in a reconstructed three-dimensional space.
With Photosynth you can:
Walk or fly through a scene to see photos from any angle.
Seamlessly zoom in or out of a photo whether it’s megapixels or gigapixels in size.
See where pictures were taken in relation to one another.
Find similar photos to the one you’re currently viewing.
Send a collection - or a particular view of one - to a friend. "
You most likely can, my 2.4GHz P4 did it great, just as fast as the demo video actually. I’ve also got 512MB RAM and a 128MB ATI graphics card.
I can’t wait for this to be released as a beta product and I’m even more excited for an actual release!
I have just started using the “production” version, now available at the site mentioned. Methinks it would be awesome if teams took pics of their robots for this site - would be a really great way to see each others work. Just use keywords “FIRST Robotics” and your team number and name, to make searching easy.Want to see my efforts? Search for “bluemizzen”
