Cheesy Arena Referee Cheat Sheet

For anyone who’s interested, I’ve developed a simple cheat sheet for referees to use with Cheesy Arena to give them quick reference to rules numbers for common penalties. The Cheesy Arena referee panel has referees input the rule numbers violated instead of a foul or tech foul so this should be a useful tool. The sheet is available here: Cheesy Arena Referee Cheat Sheet - Google Slides

I recommend that referees also use a full cheat sheet such as Peter Cooper’s (https://www.chiefdelphi.com/uploads/short-url/43hy6NGF5vC6sSFELQUuJmnkHsR.pdf). Of course, they will also need to thoroughly study the game manual.

As a note for Cheesy Arena, the input panel also has the rule info–at least in short. It’s in a mouse-over (or equivalent).

Wait, what?! Actual information, available on demand?

Referees will have it too easy.

Correction, HEAD Referees will have it too easy.

There’s only one input panel in Chezy Arena, HR. And it’s a post-match thing. So any refs with zero memory, well, that’s going to be interesting.

As someone who’s used it, it’s actually pretty nice being able to input which foul goes on which robot. The catch is that it’s a 2-button entry (foul, robot) and hope you don’t get the wrong side (rules with options for fouls and techs are separate). I don’t happen to have a screenshot around but it’s pretty nice.

Are foul points entered post-match in Chezy Arena? If that’s the case, refs will need much better than zero memory – they’ll need to remember every call they made during the match, so HR can enter them. Zebra huddle after every match?

Then again, not having to manage a panel will free striped refs to follow robot actions and indicate fouls, so they don’t miss one while looking down at a panel to enter an earlier one.

Yep. That’s why I said zero memory would be interesting.

That said I’ve rarely needed to huddle the refs except when it’s a tough enough call I’d huddle 'em anyways. Cheesy Arena hardware includes wireless intercoms which are much better than the radios usually used…
