Chezy Champs 2014: Applications open!

Hi all!

Chezy Champs is now officially accepting applications for teams who wish to compete!

Event announcements

  • We have a team capacity of 38 teams (Includes host team, 254).
  • Basic registration (robot entry and standard pit area) fees are $200.
  • Premium registration: Teams will have the option to bid on 5 Premium Registration spots, which include a field-side pit area. Bidding starts at $500, details on process to come later. Teams can note their interest for Premium Registration in the application form.
  • We are thrilled
to have Karthik Kanagasabapathy and Paul Copioli as our MC/Announcer duo. We believe Karthik and Paul are the most entertaining duo in FIRST and are excited for California teams to witness their shenanigans live and in person! - Chezy Champs will be held on Saturday and Sunday, August 30-31, 2014 at Bellarmine College Preparatory, San Jose, California. (Friday night load in)

Applications
We have received an overwhelming response from the FRC community after initially announcing Chezy Champs. It now appears very likely that we will receive registration requests from more teams than we can fit in the venue. Therefore, we are asking teams to fill out a short application which we will use to aid in selecting 37 teams to compete. Selections will be made under the following criteria:

  • Robot Competitiveness and 2014 Season Accomplishments (including official record, awards won, California FIRST Top 20 ranking, and other measures)
  • Locality (while out-of-state teams are encouraged to apply, we anticipate at least half of the spots being reserved for California teams)
  • Extenuating Circumstances (on a case by case basis)

Timeline

  • Application submissions open : May 14
  • Application submissions closed : June 1, 9PM Pacific
  • Team list finalized, invitations sent : June 5

Volunteers
We have received a bunch of interest regarding volunteering at Chezy Champs. We aren’t quite ready to accept volunteers yet, but plan to have this process up and running very soon. Stay tuned!

Man, I would come just for that.

It’s worth it. Seriously, they make good events great.

Application completed!
This is going to be AMAZING!!!

IRI’s got some competition this time around, it looks like.

Are you sure you submitted it? We don’t see a response from 2073.

Submitted around 2:25pm. Check again in a few minutes. I’m being told “the school network is a bit slow”.

It’s there now. You’re all good.

Team 842 has completed the application!

Will the event be webcast?

According to the original announcement thread for Chezy Champs, specifically post count #50, it appears that 1678 will be streaming it.

Thank you!

Just completed 2085’s application. This looks like it will be an awesome event, even if we don’t make it in I think I’ll come down just to spectate :).

Yes. The event will be webcast. We are also working on some cool inter-match commentary and breakdown. I don’t want to say too much yet as we are still working out the details, but from what our webcast people have told me I have a good sense that everyone watching at home will be very entertained.

1671 has submitted their application and is looking forward to the opportunity to compete with some amazing teams

We have put a together a website which you can use to find more info about the event.
