Chezy Champs 2018

Just a reminder to all that Volunteer Applications are still up. We’ll be starting to assign volunteer roles in the next week or so, so get your application in!

Thanks to all the volunteers that help make CC a success!

Is there a confirmed team list yet?

The team list on TBAis up to date. We’ll update it there if we have any drop-outs between now and the event - there are a few teams that are still figuring out logistics.

Good Morning Teams,

Chezy Champs 2018 is coming up in just over a month. This post contains important information about swag orders for the event - please forward to your team members who may be interested.

Swag
We’re opening pre-orders for Chezy Champs 2018 t-shirts in two colors. In order to secure your event t-shirt in the size and color you want, we recommend pre-ordering. All swag is for pick up at the event only - we are not providing a shipping option this year. Pre-orders close on September 12.

We are also selling some Team 254 gear. Note that the team gear is pre-order only - we don’t anticipate having any extras at the event.

Robot Shipping
If you will be shipping your robot to Chezy Champs, we need to know about it. Please reach out in the next week or so to give us a heads up.

Wait List
As a reminder, the event still has a waiting list. If you will no longer be able to attend, please let us know as soon as possible.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in San Jose next month!

Best Regards,
Team 254

Just a reminder that swag orders close this Wednesday September 12. Get your orders in before them to get your swag for Chezy Champs!

What blanks are being used for the shirts and hoodies? It’d be nice to be able to look at a sizing chart before ordering.

Shirts will be Bella Canvas 3001, same as last year. Exact model of hoodies is still TBD, but we’re going for a nice soft heavyweight model.

Got it, thanks! Any chance you’ll know the exact model of the hoodie before tomorrow? I’d heard the ones you had for this season ran a little small.

Probably not the same as the in-season ones. Possibly Gildan 92500, but don’t hold me to it.

Alright, I think I’ll just buy two sizes and try to pawn off the one that doesn’t fit. :stuck_out_tongue: Thanks again!

Will RSN be helping with the livestream again this year? As usual, I can’t wait to watch Chezy Champs. Good luck to all competing teams!

Yes they will and we are stoked!

Note that a few teams won’t be able to make it after all. The team list on TBA has been updated accordingly.

If anyone has a extra sweatshirt or a world championship tee PM me.

Quick question: Are the individual team pits going to be 10ft x 10ft? Thanks!

Affirmative!

Glad to see 3538’s still going out to represent Detroit Champs. They’ve gone to many offseasons this summer and they should be well practiced. West coast teams, you might want to look out for them: they caused the East’s 254 (195) to go to a rubber match in the Curie finals.

It’s been a few days, but thanks for the quick response.

On an unrelated note, 3512 is beyond excited to be taking part in this event! There are going to be so many amazing FRC teams, students, and mentors in attendence; we hope to learn many new and interesting things. Safe travels, and see you all a week from now!

Robot Radios
We will only be supporting the 2018 competition-legal robot radios. If you don’t have a 2018 competition radio, please reach out to us as soon as possible. Radio programming will be at a self-service kiosk at pit admin. Please program your radios before coming to the field for your first match – practice or official.

To minimize match turnaround and reduce connectivity issues, we ask that all teams use static IP addresses on their robots and driver stations. If possible, please configure your equipment in advance using these instructions; otherwise, assistance will be available at the event.

Preliminary Match Schedule
A preliminary match schedule has been posted on The Blue Alliance. If all teams arrive, we plan to use this schedule.

Load-In
Load in will be on Friday from 6pm-9pm and on Saturday morning from 8am onward. There are no limits on people for load-in, but please be courteous and keep aisles clear so other teams can load-in. Please check-in with pit admin to receive your driver buttons.

Event Map
A map of load-in locations is on the event website. The pit map has been posted here. Note that we have a practice field this year. The practice field will not be open after eliminations matches begin.
**
Pit Power & Batteries**
As a reminder, power in the pits will be turned off each night. We recommend that you charge your batteries before coming to the event so that they start off fresh on Saturday morning. Premium pits are unaffected.
**
Food Options**
Lunch and snacks will be offered for sale in the concessions area on both Saturday and Sunday. We also plan on having food trucks present near the gym on both Saturday and Sunday for lunch food & sweet treats. There will not be dinner for sale any day.

Safety Glasses
Note that safety glasses are required in the pits and on the field. Teams are responsible for bringing their own safety glasses.

Note on the Chezy Champs Philosophy
One final note – Chezy Champs is about and for the teams. If there is anything at all that is making your or someone else’s Chezy Champs experience less than stellar, please come find me (Nick) – I will often be near the scoring table or can be reached by any volunteer with a radio. The team experience is our #1 priority and we will do whatever we can to fix the issue.

As always, let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
