Just a reminder that Volunteer Applications are (still) open for Chezy Champs!

Chezy Champs would be impossible without the help of so many talented volunteers. If you’re free and in the Bay Area (or interested in traveling), consider applying (or if you know anyone who might be interested, please forward this along).

Application is here (link ).

I might be able to drag some co workers up from LA with me. Are there any positions which don’t require first expierence you still need filled?

Can you share if you also need refs? Might be able to get another alumni to join me.

How are teams far away from California handling the shipping cost for their robot or pits? Our team may not be able to go if we can’t find an affordable option for shipping there and back. We’d ideally want the cost to be below $4,000 in total.

Some teams ship their robots in crates. Some teams have a parent or team member drive a van or trailer to San Jose (sometimes sharing a trailer or crate with another team from a similar region). Once or twice we have had teams break down their robots small enough to ship as airline checked baggage.

Teams that ship their robots generally ship a single minimal crate and borrow heavy things (like batteries) from local teams. You can get freight quotes for shipping at freightquote.com and similar brokers (please include lift gate service). If you plan to ship, please let us know via email well ahead of time so we know to expect it.

Feel free to reach out via email if we can help with anything else. If you end up needing to borrow things, we can send out an announcement to all local teams who may be able to help you out.

Hi,
did you release the final rule changes for CC? cant find it … if not - when expected?
we will need to ship our robot quite soon… and would want to try a new autonomous if the balls’ location during auto is changed or if more balls are added…

We have not yet released the final rule changes, and hope to do so this week. Once we do, we will post here and email all attending teams. Apologies for the slow response.

Edit: Resolved, thanks!

Just forwarded this to some of our mentors, and we should be in touch soon. Thanks for the heads up!

Everybody who signed up to volunteer should have heard back by now. We were very fortunate to have exceptional volunteer interest this year, so we didn’t have roles for everybody who wanted to help.

If you haven’t heard back, double check that your email didn’t filter us out of your inbox, and then reach out via email at chezychamps (at) team254 dot com.

Thanks to all of our generous volunteers!

============================

Good Afternoon Teams,

This email contains some important final details for Chezy Champs. Please read and share with your teams.

Preliminary Match Schedule
A preliminary qualification match schedule has been posted on The Blue Alliance (link). If all teams show up as expected, we expect to use this schedule.

Pit Map & Power
The draft event pit map is posted (link) (subject to revision due to last-minute circumstances). As a reminder, power in the pit building will be shut off each night after the venue is closed, so we recommend you charge up your batteries ahead of time. Field-side pits are unaffected.

FRC Queue App
This year, we’ll be using the FRC Queue system to provide queuing notifications. In your team check-in packet, you will receive a QR code that you can use to set up to five phone numbers to receive SMS notifications before your matches. Slack notifications are also possible. Learn more here: frcqueue.com/team.

Safety Glasses
Safety glasses are required in the pits and on the field. Teams are responsible for bringing their own safety glasses; we will not have loaners available this year.

Event Layout & Parking
The event map is posted at chezychamps.com. Note that the entrance & parking lot closest to the arena is closed this year due to construction. Please plan to allocate extra time for parking and load-in, especially on Friday. Please plan to carpool where practical. If you can avoid leaving trailers on campus to free up more parking, that is much appreciated (as always, trailer parking is at your own risk).

Practice Field
We will have a very limited number of balls available on the practice field, so please plan to bring your own balls if you plan on using the practice field.

Event Schedule & Late Check-In
As a reminder, the event schedule is posted at chezychamps.com. We’re expecting all teams will arrive at Chezy Champs on Friday the 23rd. If for whatever reason your team won’t be arriving until Saturday, please reach out to let us know.

Rule Changes & COVID Rules
Rule changes and COVID restrictions are posted at chezychamps.com. As a reminder, CC22 is open to the public and we do not have capacity restrictions this year. Teams do not need to check-in or provide rosters. Masks are required indoors.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Friday! Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Best,

Nick Eyre
CC22 Event Director
