Hello teams,
We’ve published a new version of the rules for Chezy Champs 2024.
The only difference is that [CC9] now reads:
[CC9] Alliance Selection will be conducted in accordance with the newly released changes for 2025 from the FIRST Alliance Selection Task Force, with the exception that there will be a break of at least 15 minutes between the end of qualification matches and the start of Alliance Selection.
Rationale: Align with the rules and procedures expected to be in force at official events in 2025.
For comparison, the previous rule iteration can be found here. Putting aside any opinions about FIRST’s changes, we would rather not potentially confuse teams by introducing yet another unproven variant on the alliance selection process.

Event schedule
As a reminder, the event schedule is posted at chezychamps.com.
Shirt sales close tomorrow at 3pm PDT

There will be some additional quantity of event t-shirts for sale onsite, but sizes and quantities may be limited.
Rule changes
We have updated the Chezy Champs game rule changes to version 2. Specifically, rule CC9 has been updated to better align the alliance selection process with the 2025 FRC Season. The latest rule changes are always at chezychamps.com.
Robot Radio
As a reminder, we will be using the new Vivid-Hosting robot radios. Teams are required to provide their own radios.
Late Check-In
We’re expecting all teams will arrive at Chezy Champs on Friday the 27th. If for whatever reason your team won’t be arriving until Saturday, please reach out to let us know. We hope that everyone can get at least one practice match on the field on Friday night to confirm robot functionality.

If you are shipping a robot or crate to CC, we need to know about it. Please reach out if you haven’t already.

I noticed 2 teams dropped off of the TBA page, will they be replaced by anyone?
It seems pretty late for teams to be able to make last minute plans to go, so I doubt they will invite any more teams off the waitlist.
Plenty of Bay Area teams could do a 15-day turnaround for an offseason.
Who dropped out
It looks like 1538 Holy Cows and 2854 Prototypes are no longer listed.
Also, my earlier Statbotics Hypothetical Event link (up-thread) is missing 694 Stuy Pulse. Not sure if it was a late add or I missed them. Either way, I’m going to wait for @NickE to confirm the “final” list before I regenerate it, as I cannot edit the old post link.
We had a hard time getting students and their families to commit. While we would have loved to compete among the best teams in FRC, we had to forfeit our spot 
I’ll be there supporting!
Nothing is “final” until all teams check-in on Friday night, but The Blue Alliance is the home of the most up-to-date team list.
We intentionally overbook slightly to account for drop-outs, so a team dropping out does not inherently mean that we have an opening for a wait-list team.
Our bot shipped today and we’ve paid for everything so expect to see us there

Robot Radio Firmware
Ensure your Vivid-Hosting VH-109 radios are upgraded to Firmware version 1.2.1 to avoid delays with programming. Instructions here.
Event Schedule & Required Friday Check-In
The event schedule is posted at chezychamps.com. It is required that all teams check-in on Friday night to get set up and get their bots on the field at least once. This will facilitate getting a final qualification match schedule generated on Friday and a prompt start to Saturday. If your team has any problems with this, email [email protected] to request an exemption.
Battery Charging
As a reminder, power in the pit building will be shut off each night after the venue is closed, so we recommend you charge up your batteries ahead of time. Field-side pits are unaffected.
Webcast
Chezy Champs will be webcast in case you have any team members or fans at home that want to follow along. The link will be posted on The Blue Alliance (link).
Practice Field
Please plan to bring your own game pieces if you plan on using the practice field.

Hi folks! We’re looking for a few teams to beta test a radio change to improve signal strength/quality at Chezy Champs 2024.
We’ll be planning to deploy this on teams that exhibit lower than desired signal quality as well.
We’d like to run A/B testing throughout the event.

Preliminary Match Schedule
A preliminary qualification match schedule has been posted on The Blue Alliance (link). If all teams show up as expected, we expect to use this schedule.
Event Layout, Parking, & Load-In
The event map is posted at chezychamps.com.
Note that due to construction, there is a new traffic pattern this year.
For all general attendees, we recommend the arena parking lot at 780 Emory St. San Jose, CA. Note that this is not the school main address.
For main pit load-in, there is a detour this year to avoid some construction. See the linked map above for details. If you can avoid leaving trailers on campus to free up more parking, that is much appreciated (as always, trailer parking is at your own risk).
Pit Map
The draft event pit map is posted (link) (subject to change).
Check-In
Once your team arrvies on Friday, check-in at pit admin to receive your check-in packet and driver buttons.
FRC Nexus Queuing App
We plan to use the FRC Nexus system to provide queuing notifications. There’ll be a QR code in your team check-in packet that you can use to set up to five phone numbers to receive SMS notifications before your matches. Slack notifications are also possible. Learn more here.
Traffic Advisory
If your team is coming from SF or the peninsula, Hwy 101 is under construction in the Redwood City area - expect substantial delays and consider alternate routes.
