Hi all,

Everyone who saw the CA regional @ Ames will agree that
it was awsome. The finals rocked and I only hope it was
a preview of what is to come. I’m really amazed by the
technology involved in brining it to us all over the web.
When I started FIRST 4 years ago RealAudio didn’t even
exist. Now I’m watching a FIRST comp. over the web. Perhaps
by next year we’ll have full 30fps  So what happened in
Chicago I’ve no doubt it was just as exciting…my mouth
is watering for detials

At the Chicago Regional, Teams 71 and 27 won it all and teams 9 and 108
came in second place. What happened in the Nasa Ames Regional?

Can anyone give some quick descriptions of the top teams in Chicago (their robot and strategy) and also of Chief Delphi and Wildstang. I’m just very curious to see how the quality will compare with the CA regional.

Well,

I can’t remember all of the teams there, but a few clearly stick out in my mind.
first your WildStang. They are good. They basically have what looks like the same lifting mechanisn
as last year. they grab the pipe to climb the puck. They are Very formidable.
One of their matches they got a Perfect.

CD4 is a great machine as well. Once again Crabbing Steering is back. CD4 basically grabs the pipe with a little “arm”
and pulls itself all the way off the ground. THe strength of their arm is incredible.

both WildStang and CD4 were in the fianl 16.

Kokomo, the defending chamos were also in the final 16. They are quick and get the puck pretty damn fast.

now, the winners,

71 and 27 (I think) can't remember exactly, see meesage above)

First off team 27. Seeded 9th. Their wheels are basically “big cogs”
they get on and off the Puck with ease. They are dangerous. They go over the puck if it’s in their way.

nad now their alliance partner.
Team 71. Next time you hear that number, hope it’s on your half of the alliance.
71, the Beatty team. Is an Incredible machine. I cant explain their puck climbing thing. it looks like they just
drive right on and life up the back half of theor machine. They also have a “hook” to grab the puck woth and pull it, or to
pull themselves up the pipe. They were seeded number one.

Looking back over the past few year (97-98-99)
I wonder who’s got more trophies, Beatty or Delphi ?

The finals were Realyl good mathces. Both teams playes extremely well.
One of the opposing teams, Motorola/Dillard (cant rememer their partner)
hd A LOT of 'flops in the airand were going for the puck but the Beatty team pushed
the puck abd they didnt “tip” over, but it was enough thet all the floppies were out of bounds.

thats about it. I"m pretty burned out from all the chaos. Good luck to all

I remember that round well…from my angle, it looked like they had won, it took me a minute to figure out what had happened once it had been announced that they had zero points.

Actually, it was team #27 Daimler Chrysler and OSMTech that was the
Co-Champs. They were very instrumental in the winning of the championship
and I would like to personally thank them for all the great work.
