M is m. 2.718 is e, used in natural logs. r^2 is two r’s, and (1/y)^-1 inverts it to y. So it adds up to “Merry”…
sqrt(x^2) = x. Force/Acceleration = Mass according to F=ma. You get “Xmas”
I like the attached one quite well too. It was reprinted the same day as the Foxtrot one on ucomics.com

I like it … but how many people would figure it out? I bet that some of my more stubborn friends are going to spend their entire Xmas vacation trying to “brake the code”. I’m gonna use it.
