Chute Door?

Answer for Team 3140’s Resource Scavenger Hunt:

“Yes, Chute Door.”

Funny you should post this, now. I am wearing my Chute Door T-Shirt as I write this. [strike]Most[/strike] all people seeing it have no idea.

I’ma be brutally honest, I have no idea what this is. Maybe I’m a tad bit too young to remember this? If anyone can, please enlighten me. ::rtm::

EDIT: “this” refers to the Chute Door thing

Answer: “Yes, Chute Door.”

You list your rookie year as 2015, so I’m actually a hair surprised at your not knowing, unless your rookie season was 2016–in 2015, there was a field element used in entering totes from the human player station, the “Chute Door”. At one point, a team who meant to ask a longer question in Q&A (and, it should be noted, they immediately asked it when they realized their blunder) simply put “Chute Door”. The Game Design Committee simply answered, “Yes, Chute Door.” (They also answered the real question.)

Viral-ness followed, particularly after Frank put it on the FRC Blog (and shirts were sold). The only thing more viral than the Chute Door response might have been “Cheesecake”…

There might be a couple of threads on CD discussing various aspects of this, but I leave finding them as an exercise for the reader.

Oh man, must have been because I didn’t go on CD or read the Q&A before this season. Thanks for the clarification!

I have one in the shop.

I believe that the correct term is virality. Carry on!

Personal opinion: TSIMFD at least came close. ::ouch::

2015 memes:
Chute Door
Cheesecake
Totes ma Goats

2016 memes:
TSIMFD

I believe 2014 memes included corn dogs and certain intentional misspellings of the game name.

Does the baguette/leg of mutton fall under 2016 too?

Ah, yes, forgot about that one. Particularly with at least one team pulling one out in the Spy Box.

Can you please link the blog to the chute door question? I’m looking for it on the blog but can’t seem to find it. I’m not sure how I didn’t hear about this. Thanks

I found the old link to it, but it appears to be broken:
https://frc-qa.usfirst.org/Question/163/chute-door

I seem to recall some 2014 memes regarding people yelling at the stupid pedestal that occasionally decided not to light up.

2017 memes:
transparency is a sign of BAD LARD!

Nicely explained.
I think it’s awesome that the Q&A team replied to that first question… they HAD to know it was going become something!

Ah, the infamous Chute Door. Forever immortalized in my Senior Quote in the school yearbook.
