May richard rest in pieces. I will fix his broken limbs tomorrow during class.

So richard popped a breaker (into pieces)

I’m honestly surprised this thing had breakers at all

Safety regulations are strictly followed when I do personal projects, have no fear (im only using them since the pdp is a wonderful power splitting device so I didnt have to do any soldering or splicing or anything)

I mean, they clearly did their job. They broke alright.

I’ll have to teach you the wonders of terminal blocks with breakers…

The real question: Did the breaker snap-action back together?

sadly it did not lol

also i think we might have terminal blocks in our electrical bin? I vaguely remember seeing them in the back, but I use all the new fangled stuff for electrical so I’ve never touched them lmao

Ok so richard the sequal was both a success and a failure. He gained extraordinairy speeds during his 4 second lifespan before the second tragedy. Richard: return of the cim will be coming out soon. Ill be using thicker ply.

At this point, I feel like the fragility of the plywood almost acts as a safety mechanism, since it self destructs and (mostly) stops itself in the process. If I had one suggestion it would be to add quick disconnects to your motor cables so if one comes dislodged it unplugs itself rather than continuing to run and potentially causing a more dangerous situation.

I’d like to suggest mounting the main breaker such that it cuts off power when it runs into something (kind of like the minibots in 2011 did), but I wouldn’t suggest mounting it to the front of the racer, since it would be unlikely to survive (and those things are expensive). Something to think about anyways.

Worse happened with v4. Poor richard lost his battery during the collission (its at the door in this photo, it was propelled to where it is there when the crash happened)

Man one week since champs and already the students are bored…
