Hi everyone,
I am an electrician for our school’s rookie team and I had a question.
According to rule <R37>, the circuit breaker need to be in an “quickly accessible” place, and we think that our current placement would work, but we thought it would be a good idea to check with people who are more experienced than we are.
Is this an acceptable place to put the breaker? If not, where would be a better place to put it?
Thank you all!
I’d recommend moving it to the side of what the jags are mounted on. Like the radio, but on the other side.
Outside of the rules, it’s best for everyone to have that as easily accesible as possible. Monkeying around inside the robot to turn it on is never fun, and can bump PWMs and whatnot out of place.
Not to mention turning it off, especially in case of an accident! :ahh:
Imagine this scenario: Your robot is on the field, and it is smoking heavily (nearly on fire). Someone who has never seen your robot needs to turn off the main breaker. NOW.
Now, ask yourself: Is that breaker accessible/visible?
Use that standard, and you’ll be fine.
As for the position now, I don’t like it, too far inside the robot.
