Clarification help

We have tried to run the example single solenoid vi, but there is no light on festo valve, however there is light on the solenoid led. When we accidently plugged the wire into the digital side car for the light bulb, it was blinking, so we went back to the diagram for electrical wiring and saw that the diagram states to connect the solenoid to the power supply board next to where you give power to the cRIO, so we did that, but no power led goes on the solenoid. Now when we looked at the programming diagram from NI, it said to connect it to 12v, did we do something wrong?

We checked the locations we put for solenoid, which is the default, slot 8, and we plugged festo wire into slot 8, we used the 2 slot cable instead of the pwm.

Now another question is should instead of connecting the festo to the solenoid should we connect the festo to the digital side car…how would i proceed to do that?

The Solenoids requires its own special module and a breakout board same as the analog’s if that could be the problem. You would attach power to it just like the analog through a WAGO connector on the breakout board to the power distribution board. Slot 8 is the farthest away from the cRIO LED indicators and ethernet ports. Can’t give you the module’s ID number right now, I would have to check my team’s cRIO.

actually, the solenoid breakout and analog breakout are different. You can get a solenoid breakout from AndyMark here.

also, the solenoid module is an NI 9472

Just in case wheredo we go to get replacement NI piece?

looks like here. I’m not sure if there’s a special FRC version, but I don’t think so. I know you also get two of these (I think) if you order a cRIO-FRC from NI as well.

Is the solenoid the new one that was shipped to you for this FRC Competition?
