Super excited for this! An off-season in the Des Moines area is something I’ve wanted to see since I was a student, and I’m glad these teams were able to come together to finally make it happen.
If I may make one suggestion, could the max robot weight be increased by 5 pounds? I know there probably won’t be any inspection, but it would make it easier for any teams competing at CowTown the following month, which does have that change.
I would encourage any of the Midwest teams to join and help inaugurate what I hope becomes a fall tradition in Iowa. It is great exposure to the program for your new kiddos to see the excitement of the game.
It was a great event. Thanks to the sponsors for subsidizing so much of the cost. Hope it grows next year and more teams sign up because the volunteers were awesome. It was a great learning opportunity for all involved.

The Volunteer of the Year Award: @Dagney_3928 This volunteer is truly in a League of their Own. With over 10 years of experience in FIRST, they have been committed to volunteering, and mentoring countless hours and many teams throughout all FIRST programs. She has committed herself to service by being a science teacher in her hometown to help inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers. Just like a Neutrino in the science world, she’s revolutionized the FIRST community and made FIRST in Iowa thrive. This event couldn’t have been put on without her dedication. Thank you for all that you have done for us Dagney.
