What class do you think has most changed your life as a career and a student?
Without my Architectural Drafting class, I wouldn’t know how to program. Weird, eh?
I <3 AutoLISP.
Mine is Computer Info Systesms. I actually failed it one quarter because we were doing boring things. REALLY boring things. Then we did FrontPage 2000, something I’ve never used. Then I flew. I crated great sites using tables and a great PowerPoint presentation on 007 that go wows with it’s music and naration.
I’m going to take Advaced Computer Apps next year that will refine my Photoshop skills and I’ll be able to learn Flash MX DURRING SCHOOL TIME!
Definately AP Government and Politics. If it weren’t for that class and my teacher, I wouldn’t have been a political science major or have a clue of what I wanted to do with my life. Also Honors Physics (translation: robotics). I definately learned so many leadership and managerial skills.
I have a few Sociology and honors government because they helped me develop who i am as a person, and A+ computer repair because it helped me figure out what i want to do with my life + it saved me money on tech-support.
Intro to Metal Fab…
no
really
I mean it
no I don’t…but it’s one of my better classes…
The class that has changed my life for the worst: Engineering Fundamentals…now not only am I nerd, but an anal retentive nerd…
Hmmm… I learned how to love learning again through a class or rather a program called the learning community that had a similar approach to mentor-style teaching as the FIRST program. (which explains my fondness for FIRST)
I also learned the value of hard work and committment form a chamber choir class that performed on an international/professional level. Don’t believe me? Go check out
The website will tell you all about it. I am listed with the alumni for 1989 and 1990 (Amber Hannay). The committment level required is so intense that the kids at Los Altos High School were referring to it as “The Cult” a few years back.
I learned not to judge people or things at first glance, loyalty, integrety, and how to travel as lightly as possible through foreign countries.
Oh yeah, I also learned how to sing. Which is handy, since I am going to be a voice coach at the College of Eastern Utah next fall. (It was so weird. I walked in thinking I was going to audition for a scholarship to put myself through school, and I walked out a teacher. Too weird.)
Chemistry I H.
I hated the teacher (she didn’t oh, what’s the word? Teach). At the end of the year we were just getting to what I learned in 8th Grade physical science, and the class wasn’t particularly fun, either. The reason it changed my life, another student named Omar. Ah, Evangelion was the pandora’s box to enlightenment.
John, you beat me to it!
The class that changed my life the most (for the better) was Eva.
I mean, Chemistry. It showed me that I am Shinji, and how to fix it.
The worst class ever was my eighth grade science class. “Remember, energy is a verb.” Need I say more?
Computer Engineering.
It was in that class and that teacher that I first heard of FIRST couple years back.
Heh. I’m amazed by all these HS classes I’ve never heard of Engineering courses? Computer courses? CAD? Wha? We have none of these. No course of mine has really been life-changing. Yeah…apathetic cheering…go northeast…graduating class of 68 people…
El Camino College Fire Tech. 140/141 (EMT training)
It really helped me build self confidence. It also gives you a sence or purpose.
Sophomore’s Accelerated English.
The teacher was one of the coolest people I have ever known. A real hardass of a teacher, but our senses of humor meshed perfectly. I learned more, in his class, than in any other English class I have ever taken, and am very grateful to him.
Wow I feel dumb but the class that most changed my life was TV Production… I’ve taken it 3 years in a row now and I have 3 classes of it this semester (my final semester)… can you tell what I wanna be when I grow up? Anyways we’re like #1 in FL and in the top 3 or something world wide for having one of the best programs and we’re the only program to have a COMPLETELY STUDENT PRODUCED television show that airs on real TV… it’s called Fox 13 Magazine and it airs on Fox 13… go figure… anyways… um here’s our studio’s website…
http://catcom.cat.pinellas.k12.fl.us/index4.html
and this is the Fox 13 Magazine site…

I’m part of 3 Guys and A Camera… yea well anyways… yup…
My 8th grade English class changed my life.
After that class, I became fascinated by literature. I still am.
The class that changed my life had to be 11th Grade US Government with Mr. Clevenger. One of the smartest teachers I have ever had. It was one of the few social studies classes in high school that challenged me at all. It made me extremely aware of how our government works and got me to really follow politics. After being in his class, I knew I wanted to do something with politics/international relations in college (going to James Madison College at MSU) and for a career.
Actually, it wasn’t really the class so much as it was my teacher in 8th grade Honors English. I never got higher than a B on any of my writings in that class…even though I thought they were darn good.
She was a great person, my teacher and a friend. But she did deny me her request to have me place in Honors English for High school. She told me if I wanted it, I’d have to take the exam and get placed.
Boy, I worked my butt off on that exam to make it the perfect paper…and I got in. And I realized that if you want something, you really really gotta work for it.
the class or classes that have changed my life were my 8th grade English class and my current psychology class.
My 8th grade English teacher had us write essay after essay at least 3 a week including 3 drafts each, i know it doesn’t sound like its hard but he came up with some crazy ideas, i hated him when i had his class but now after i look back on the class i learned alot from him and the writing, i learned that i can write about anything no mater how stupid or unimportant it is and that has helped me so much in my classes.
My psych class has taught me so much about myself what i have learned about myself i can use with other people
ah, i just remembered my science teacher in 9th grade was a biochemist before he started teaching, he quit his job because of a personal stand, the company was putting products that were sub par on the the market, and he took a huge pay cut and drives almost 2 hours to school to teach. he taught me so much about really cool aspects of science and technology
i Guss i didn’t really answer the question because there have been so many classes that have inspired me so much isnt it great how much one teacher can do for you in a year or less
Without learning Qbasic and C++, I wouldn’t be a programmer on my team. Would I? Heck, I probably wouldn’t even be on this robotics team!
Algebra II Sophmore year, got me into FIRST.
Video Production, because the teacher gave me keys to the school, declaring me "Audio/Visual technician for the school. I got an office, keys, alarm code, and fixed all electronic devices around the school.
Physics, because we built a Trebuchet, Potato Cannon, rocket bike (which was actually ridden around), and generally explored the coolness of how realistic a class physics is.
