Classmate HELP!!

Today my team set up our classmate pc. we got all the way up to installing the mandatory update. once we rebooted and it logged itself into the driver account it was just a regular Windows Xp interface. is there a special program I have to start to get to the interface that First made?

It should boot into the Driver Station automagically.

Are you sure you logged in to the Driver account? If you log in to the Developer account, you will get the XP desktop.

You can run the LabView Driver Station from the Developer account. It’s in the Start menu.

But for practice sake, the best thing to do is log out, then log back in and be sure you select the Driver account.

Otherwise, if that isn’t it, you may have incorrectly installed the update. Try to reload that.

to reload the update would you sugest just rerunning setup.exe or flashing the entire computer using the usb and then re doing everything?

I would try just the update first. Keep the reflash for a last resort.

ok. thanks. When we installed the update as soon as it said finished i rebooted the computer. Mabe it still had vital processes going at that point. also it asked if i want the devolpers files inaccessible from other accounts. i selected yes. should i change that to no? just thinking it may be a problem!

I don’t remember seeing that message, but you would want it accessible from both (or all) accounts.

it was after setting up a password for the developer account (if you wanted to put a password on it)

Okay, I understand it now. That shouldn’t have any effect on whether the Drivers station runs.

is there a simple exe that i have to run to get the dashboard up? or is it through labview or something like that?

I don’t have the Classmate in front of me at the moment, but I believe I remember shortcuts for it being in the start menu.

I do know that the software installed on another computer adds that shortcut. It’s called FRC Driver Station. It has a LabView icon.

We had the same problem after reinstalling some labview software to the classmate. We reran the mandatory update that FIRST provided and it fixed the problem

Does it matter what user you are logged onto when you install the update?

I don’t think you can run the update from the driver account, I believe the developer account is the only one capable of more than just running the dashboard and driver station. Of course, you may have configured more accounts (this is probably not recommended,) which could also be used for software updates.

I hope this helps.
