Classmate not connecting wirelessly

Yes i have re-imaged the cRIO. i haven’t been asked for the WPA key. and should the IP be changed in local or wireless access?

Did you follow the Rev A updated “How to Configure the Radio”? It was just posted.

You want your wireless connection to be 10.16.33.5, not the Local LAN.

Yes I have fallowed that. I have also double checked it as well. I also just changed the IP of the classmate and it didn’t do anything. I am thinking that it has something to do with how the classmate cannot even see out shops wireless network.

make sure that the wireless is enabled there should be a light on by the f keys. if its not you need to press the fn button and find the button to turn on the wireless

Yes the wireless is enabled. I even disabled it and enabled again, but it didn’t change anything.

Now if for some reason when i tried to reconfigure the classmate with the update earlier it did not work. could that be the problem?

update?

sorry. it was the 2011 Image for '10 classmate. one of my team members used the flashdrive on the wrong computer so i downloaded it from the FIRST website.

oh… that would not make a difference

and you said it wasn’t picking up any wireless you say?

correct, but for some reason it auto connects to one of the ASU networks nearby.

when you go to set up your change your ip address look at the other tabs there should be one that at the top is says “Use window to control your wireless”

make sure that is checked

Until you said that, it sounded like the wireless network adapter on your Classmate might be broken or misconfigured. Now it just sounds like you’re not paying attention to what you’re saying.

Let’s start at the beginning. If you’ve reimaged your Classmate and applied the Driver Station update, you should be able to log on as the Driver and set your team number. That will set the IP address appropriately, and if the D-Link is properly configured and powered up, you should be able to connect to it without extra effort.

Did you reimage your Classmate and apply the Driver Station update?

I beleive that i did reimage and do the DS update, because i had to reenter our teams number.

so for sure your wireless is working right

and can you connect to the internet?

sorry for the delayed reply. but no the classmate cannot connect to the internet.

are there anymore ideas of things that might be wrong?

If it’s still not working and you have tried reimaging it than put another post

ok. so i was just looking at the updates that i had downloaded and the one that had downloaded and done on the classmate was the Driver station update http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/2263
so i am not sure if i have actually re-imaged the classmate.

The OP states

The classmate is also configured to 10.16.33.5 (in local area connection though not sure if i need to change that to wireless connection).

Yes, you need to make sure the wireless connection is set to a proper IP address (either manually or by the Driver Station software) and enabled.

Right click on the wireless adapter, properties, IPV4, properties. Click on “Use this IP Address” and enter something like 10.16.33.7. Set the subnet mask to 255.0.0.0 click OK to get out.

We’ve had luck by right clicking the wireless adapter and selecting “Connect/Disconnet network”. Connect to the DLINK, it should have an ID of 1633 if you followed the instructions correctly. It might prompt for a WPA key, in that case enter the WPA key you entered during the DLINK setup, if you used the default setting in the instructions it would be 1633WPAKEY.

Hope that helps

If you didn’t boot from the USB flash drive that came in the Kit of Parts, and if you didn’t wait through about twenty minutes of reformatting and copying of files, and if you didn’t get asked to create a new user name, and if you didn’t find the Classmate nagging you about activating your copy of Windows 7…

…you haven’t actually re-imaged the Classmate.

Go to the Kit of Parts web page and follow the instructions in How to Set Up Your 2011 Driver Station (updated 1/11/11). If you intend to install LabVIEW or other programming environments on the Classmate, make sure you first read and follow the Classmate Drive Space Recovery Procedure (NEW 1/11/11).

will having any extra files on the flash drive affect it in any way?
