Climbing Touchpad Sensor

We have a climber similar to Team 449’s climber. We were trying to work out a way for the climber to actually trigger the touchpad. Any suggestions and tips from teams who have ideas or have already tested theirs? Thanks

Triggering the should just be a matter of pressing on it. Do you have any pictures of your setup right now or video?

Video is linked in the linked thread

I do have pictures and videos, but i am unsure as to how i get it on Chief Delphi as it is asking for some “link”

Actually go with what the other guy sent. It is essentially the same as ours.

In that video, does it not already touch the touchpad? I don’t see where the problem is.

So the issue is that you are hitting the extrusion that is flush with the touchpad and not pressing it, correct? How much extra volume do you have to work with and where?

Could you mount an articulated peg or plate that extends below or next to your climber (outside of the frame perimeter, but not beyond the perimeter defined by your bumpers)? If not, could you move the climbing mechanism a few inches towards the center of your robot so the surrounding structure contacts the touchpad?

We have potentially 1-1.5 in upwards, but almost no room forwards as the climber is at the front of the robot. When the robot climbs it also is at a 60-ish degree angle so anything we put on top will most likely not hit. However the part about putting it below is interesting. I will definitely be taking a look at that tomorrow. Thanks for the burst in inspiration.

When ours goes up it hits flush with the touchpad but is unable to press it because of our spikes.
I was mainly thinking about adding a piece on the side, top or bottom to push the touchpad once we reached up there
