CMUcam green, no red LED, then nothing

Hello,

We were following the procedure this morning to setup and configure the CMUCam2, as a bench test. We had the laptop setup with Labview, and we followed the instructions exactly for the bench test. At step 5B, all we got was a green light, and no red light.

We spent several hours tinkering with the laptop’s RS-232 port settings, making sure it was working. Then suddenly, the green light went out. The 7.2 battery had plenty of power (it was at about 8V). We measured the voltage between the black and red wires going from the PWM power output of the controller (red and black wire) to the camera, and there was zero volts.

We then measured the voltage on the PWM Out port itself, between ground and the 7.2 center pin, and it was at zero volts. We then removed all connections to the controller, and with an ohm meter, measured the resistance between the battery +7.2v terminal and the +7.2v terminal of the center pin of the PWM out, and the circuit was open.

There appears to be no user-replacable fuse. We tried a second fresh battery, and still there was no output on the PWM Output port.

Any suggestions on what went wrong? Also, is our Innovation First controller fried?

Thanks,
Bob

Did you have the 12 volt battery installed/hooked up also? I believe there is a circuit inside the controller which disconnects the backup battery after a preset amount of time, found in the programming code.

Check your main voltage, when it gets low it takes all of the backup batteries oomph to keep the controller up, we had that happen too, are you getting any Low Main Batt or Backup Batt lights on the OI?
