I am a bit confused as to how I view images from my CMUcam2 on my computer. Another team member shoved a copy a labview in my hands, but upon searching the tubes for more info, I came accross this 100kb java applet that claims to do the same thing. (And cross platform!) http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~cmucam2/downloads.html
I would love to save the gigs of space! Can I just use that small applet?
—edit—
also, my computer does not have a serial port. So I need to use the USB-Serial adapter. Do I need any drivers for that?
To save you the trouble, this thread has a fair amount of suggestions for adapters that will work for the robot controller. I personally use a Keyspan USA-19HS adapter, and don’t have any problems.
Hey, Just confirming that it all works now! I have it rigged up with the (parallax?) vex usb-serial adapter and through VMware on a mac! I couldn’t ever get the jar to work, though… I have a feeling that most of our troubles were caused by the still-plugged-in TTL-PWM… Remember to unplug that!
Just a reminder that switching the color space from RGB to YCrCb will let the camera distinguish much better between the target light and the fluorescent lights in the ceiling (and their reflections). The frame grab will look pretty useless – mostly bluish purple – but the target should show up as a distinct area of slightly darker purple that can be tracked easily.
