Yes, any adult mentors, including the lead mentor/coach, are allowed to be in the pits.
That’s because there’s no rule about who must or must not be in the team’s pit. (Well, other than young children needing escorts.)
You will surely want an adult in your pit to make sure the kids are supervised, if nothing else. When you reach your event, you’ll likely find most mentors work alongside the students to be ready.

I am guessing that you are asking if your adult mentor can act as coach on the field. the answer is yes. Many teams have adults coaching, our team included.
