College Acceptance?

Some of you must have gotten acceptance letters from colleges by now. Where is everyone going? Anyone for Georgia Tech in Fall? Were looking at having two team next year and possibly a regional. We would love to get more support from incoming freshman with some FIRST experience. Come visit us at Nationals, team 832.

I’ve been accepted at Rose-Hulman (since not many have heard of it: www.rose-hulman.edu), Worcester Poly Tech, and Virginia Tech. I will likely be attending Rose next year (and even starting a team perhaps), but if I get the WPI (read :whoopie!) scholarship, I’ll be more than happy to go there.

who’s next?

Go Yellow Jackets!!!

Sorry, but I’m really excited about headin’ down south next year. I’ll be a Mech. E. who is VERY interested in doing FIRST. My roommate also wants to do FIRST. Sounds like a great time!

Going to GT. Oh yeah.

If you need any help starting a team at Rose, let me know - I graduated from there and went to high school in Terre Haute. I’ve been on my high school chem teacher about getting involved, but he’s infatuated with this Botball game.

well I’m still waiting on a few but my choices are between CMU, Penn State, RIT, UMD-college park, and Drexel. hmmmm where shall I go

I’ve been accepted to Mary Baldwin College, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and The University of Evansville. I will be attending Evansville in the fall. YAY!
I’m definitely going to attempt to start a FIRST Robotics team while I’m there!

I was accepted into Penn State University Park, back in Nov. and it’s a good thing, too, i didn’t apply anywhere else… i’m going for Mechanical Engineering wahoo!! maybe i’ll start a team or something… i’ll always be a miracle worker though… Sniffle

Well, I suppose that I would put my vote in for you to come up to RIT. It looks as thought RIT will be once again involved in FIRST next year (as in with team 73 next year as a major partner). There are already two of us from Parkville (both alumni of the FIRST team there) who attend RIT at the moment.

we all got into the same colleges!! (i got into University of Maryland-college park, Penn State-university park, buffalo, binghamton, u florida-gainsville, northeastern, and Ohio State) I was gonna go to Penn State, but now I decided to go to University of Maryland  Does anyone know if they have a robotics team?? I REALLY want to do FIRST next year!!!

good luck to everyone still waiting to hear from their schools!

anyone at maryland e-mail me about robotics teams!!

So far I’ve been accepted to Northeastern, Holy Cross, WPI, Syracuse and Fordham, still waiting on word from Cornell. Only about 3 schools have a FIRST team but I’m sure I could start my own team next year. But even if I win the Northeastern full scholarship, I might not attend NU because I also have great scholarships to WPI and Syracuse so far. But it all about Cornell! Go Big Red!!!

Stacy talk to Steve Shade on team 7. He is at UMD College Park and they do have a team, or at least he works with one…

When you get there, go see Dr. Dave Akin in the Aerospace Engineering Dept, in the Neutral Bouyancy Research Facility (NBRF) building. Several students in his lab were working on starting a team, but had to wave off this year due to unavoidable circumstances. They are absolutely committed to having a team next year.

(As an aside, if you are interested in engineering, Dave’s lab is one of the coolest places around. He runs one of only two research-oriented NBRFs in the country, and the only NBRF in the world at a university. He is also great about pulling undergrads in to help work on his research projects, not just graduate students.)

If you don’t want to work with a team through the university, you can also sign on with one of the other local teams. There are several within a 20-mile radius of U.Md. The closest is team #53, Eleanor Roosevelt HS and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, about five minutes down the road in Greenbelt Md. Doug Pruitt is the lead teacher and point of contact for the team.

Anyone besides me doing a semster or a year at a community college before going to a four year college/university?

i’ve been accepted and will be attending IUPUI (Indiana University-Purdue University of Indianapolis) this fall. i took my placement tests yesterday. IUPUI is the home of the Internet 2. and Indianapolis is considered the Silicon Valley of the Midwest. so i figue i’m pretty set.

I did that Wetzel… Hopefully it turns out better for you than it did for me. Actually, Joe Ross did as well so it’s eally not a bad idea.

This fall I’ll be going to University California Los Angeles (UCLA). My friend (who’s gonna be in the engineering school) and me (english major…odd for robotics I know) want to start a team. Anyone else going to UCLA?

I applied and got accepted to the 3 schools want to got to, Drexel, Rutgers, and NJIT. All of them have teams in the school or the area I could probably help. I really have no clue on which school to got to though. Any suggestions?

im looking forward to trying to start a team out at iowa state university. i don’t want to give up first.
