Combining Motors

Im wondering if anybody knows how to put a CIM and a fisherprice motor in the same gear box. Im assuming that some alterations must be made to accommodate the different rpms.
Thanks!

Run the FP through an AndyMark planetary and you should have no problems.
http://www.andymark.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=182 I’m just not certain which one to use…

I’m not quite certain what happens with the new FP motor, but that’s a start.

how exactly do these planetary gearboxes function? also, what new FP motors? were they changed?

google “planetary gear animation”

Planetary gearboxes work by having a layer of a certain number of gears around a shaft (coming from your motor). This set of 3 or 4 gears rotates in conjunction with a inside gear outside of the other set of gears.

I know I am horrible at explaining this, but just look at this picture:

and this one:

The second picture is a regular drill gearbox.

I hope this helps!

That being said, you probably won’t be combining CIMs and FPs this year, since there is one FP and for 95% of teams they should have 4 CIMs in their drive.

Are you limited in the number of FP motors you can use? The RS motors can only be used in a max total amount of 4. You can only use 4 CIMs, But they don’t limit the number of FP motors used.

You only get one in the KOP, but you can buy more.

you can only buy more CIMs because the rules say so.

The rules say no such thing about FPs.

Thus, only the single fisher price motor provided may be used.

Sorry to deliver the bad news, I wish we had more also. on the other hand, the RS-775 has respectable specifications.
