Combustion compression experiences?

Anyone use Combustion yet?
Looks cool, but all I want to do is merge our audio with the animation.
When I compress to DV-NTSC Codec with 3DSMax’s Video post, it looks great.
When I add the audio and compress with DV-NTSC with Combustion it looks like doodoo. Way too much compression with “jpeggy” artifacts even though I have it set to highest quality.

I tried Combustion with no compression, and it looks nice, but its 900 MB, not to mention the movie MUST be DV-NTSC.

Any ideas?
I can’t find an editor that will preserve the render quality.
3DSMax video post doesn’t seem to have an audio track.
iMovie is a joke. Horrible resolution decrease on import.

Thanks

The settings are actually in the quicktime movie player. You need to go to
edit > preferences > player Preferences > and check “Use high quality video setting when available.”

Make sure when you export your movies they are not interlaced, Make sure it is a Progressive scan.

It makes me a sad man when I have to use something other than Xvid or H.264, or some other codec along those lines :frowning:

Yep, I have a nice H.264 version of my animation on my hard drive. Smaller file size too.

3ds max Video Post does have an audio track. I don’t recommend Video Post for anything.

We got the privilege of using a Mac Pro with a 30" Cinema display to do our editing. You should try it sometime. It’s amusing.
