We usually do pins, but are trying out stickers instead this year. We use the team logo on pins/stickers and often also design one that is game-specific. In years past, we’ve tried other game themed items, like stress balls or frisbees.

Careful how much you broadcast this… Food as handouts can be a touchy subject.

A coupe FMA teams did friendship brackets at an event and traded them. We also had a plinko set up where the rare space was the bracelet, the other spaces were our pin designs

That is, they are illegal (E111):

*Don’t give out food. Teams may not distribute food to others at an event.

We give out game-themed pins and robotics memes on them as well.

We do a few different types of pins that all have our team number but have a few design differences

-Traditional pins that we do every year with a cute cartoon robot designed by our media team

-Pins with our “Read the manual, Big brother is watching” poster on it

-Pins with a silly picture of our team leadership that are limited and only given out if you do a “scavenger hunt” and take a selfie with said leadership member with a grand prize of a shiny version of our traditional pins for taking a selfie with all leadership members

-And sometimes, very rarely, we give out pins with our mentors faces photoshoped onto different characters

Also we do bracelets

Flyers on why they should pick us for their alliance. It actually works sometimes.

Yes, that is the wording I was intentionally avoiding.

If you do push the boundaries at an event, be careful how, when, and by how much. More than a few international teams have been scorned for handing out sweets one way or another despite it being pretty harmless.

Just be careful if/where you push rules in case somebody decides to take a different stance.

Can confirm that playing plinko at 4573’s pit during Warren Hills was significantly more fun than the electrical issues during finals later that day.

555 gives out stickers and pins, I remember that 7414 gave out 3d printed trinkets.

We give out a lot of buttons. Our logo lends well to some cool designs.

(cropped bc the font is messed up in preview)
Besides just the original, we made a suite of pride buttons (some people really liked them, some people just picked them up for the colors), and a bunch more “slogan buttons” with things that people have said in the lab in the past. Here is one such banger:

We also occasionally do one-off or small batch buttons (12pcs, which corresponds to 1 sheet). When I was on drive team, I got a custom Armenian flag barn2 button, just because I thought it would be funny (and I could also rep the heritage). Get to us early at competition and we might be able to give you a spare, rare and exclusive button.

343 has in the past handed out rubber bracelets and balloons (yes like party balloons, there were more than a few breathless students and mentors)

My favorite team handout though has to be my koala from 3132. It is built around a binder clip and is very cute

Some venues are rather territorial about concessions and food distribution on their premises and have clauses in the contracts that the event organizers have to agree to. Violating those clauses could lead to the loss of the use of the venue in the future.

We’ve always just handed out pins, but I’ve seen bead bracelets, temporary tattoos, keychains, earrings, and sometimes little tokens. One of our local teams makes pronoun pins alongside their regular team pins which is super awesome to see!

We always do buttons! We have limited-edition ones every year, and we also have bilingual buttons for students/mentors (Spanish and ASL).

For our team, we do friendship bracelets for every student and mentor, and we also print our own earrings (last year we did notes out of TPU so they were bendy just like real notes). Supplies were limited but we handed out as many as we could. Plus stickers and hair bows with our team number on them.

We’ve been making Pokebot cards for the last several years and they’ve been a huge success. This was inspired by hearing that robot trading cards is already a thing in I think Texas and Australia. We put some of our statistics on them and update for each event, then give one to each team. This year we’re planning to give them to judges as well.
