I am definitely excited to see Los Angeles North competition in week 1 with 3309, 1678, 973, 4414, 5012, 114, 155… it is just so stackedddd. What else should we be watching out for?
I’m honestly just glued to LAN. Horrifying. It’s gonna be great.
I, for one, am terrified to be attending LA North in week one.
FiM/ONT/NE/FMA/PNW/FiT District Championship
Seven Rivers Regional up in Wisconsin is looking scary and there are still a few more strong teams looking at getting in the next round of picks. I’m calling it the Midwest Non-District Championship right now.
It is so scary, but so much to learn as well.
I personally am excited to watch Granite State week 1. 319, 133, 5687, 1519, 1729 and many more are going to make it one of our most competitive district events yet.
So am I being foolish to still want to add LA North? We have Ventura week 4. I’m equally scared and excited.
GSD will be very interesting to watch in 2020 on and off the playing field.
133, 5687, 319, 1519, 95, 1729, 6329, 4564, 4905, 4909, 1058…
So many teams who are strong annually and a group of teams who can benefit greatly from having more time with their robots without the bag. Should be interesting to see who signs up in round two with such a stacked list. We are adjusting our priorities in light of who signed up the first time around.
All 8 alliances should wind up with at least two strong teams…going to be fun to watch.
After 1st selection (using 2019 points – via Caleb’s scouting database).
*I’ll note weaknesses real quick. Average misses events that might be tough from perspective of top 8-10 teams, if lower teams are not great. With only a single event selected, teams will fill in and alter this outlook quite a bit. Events with low current sign-ups are more likely to be highest or lowest value, due to averaging effect.
Brendan, does your adjustment of priorities now put 3467 going to GSD? 319 is assessing it’s second round District Event now. Curious how other teams are looking into their crystal ball…
GSD will be sooo much fun!
We moved GSD lower on our list. As much as it looks like a party and it’s only 10 minutes away, we know we need to do better at our opening districts than we have been in the past few years. That team list is very intimidating. Not set in stone yet.
In terms of FiM district events, I’m very excited to see Wk1 Southfield & Wk2 Milford.
Southfield currently has nine! 2019 World Championship teams (33, 910, 1188, 1481, 1718, 3414, 3538, 4130, & 5436), and two more from 2019 MSC (573 & 5048) w/ 28 registered.
Milford currently has seven 2019 World Championship teams (51, 67, 1076, 4362, 4776, 7553, & 7598), and two more from 2019 MSC (308 & 7211) w/ 16 registered.
Keep in mind this is only thru 1 round of signups. These events will only get more stacked.
Glad I’m not competing at either.
100% feel you we did the same haha
I highly recommend watching the Israel district. Our competitions are usually very balanced, with a pretty high average level. Also, the strategy out here is always so different, to the point where it sometimes kinda feels like a completely different game.
The MC and game announcer are very fun as well, you might not understand a word but the energy is through the roof.
All in all, a pretty good district to watch (from completely impartial viewpoint XD)
(cries in South Carolina support structure)
Smoky Mountains has this interesting amalgamation of teams thanks to being in the middle of kinda everywhere. Three HoF teams and Week 5 means wild cards are almost certainly getting burned, and while I’m not looking up every team there’s a real murderer’s row:
- The HoF teams (Bomb Squad, Bacon, MARS)
- Pretty much all the South Carolina Bosch teams (ROBOTZ Garage, RAM Rodz, Category 5, Viper Drive, FIRE)
- OGs you know better than to bet against (SigmaC@T, Metal In Motion)
- Local favorites (Robotichauns, HVA RoHAWKtics, L&N)
MSC, as always, and my home regional at FLR.
4028 will likely stand out as well.
